Jackson falls is probably a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet town of Apollo. It was by chance that we stumbled up on this place while on a hunt for waterfalls on the internet. We ended up going here on a chilly morning during early spring. The drive was a delight! We drove around Apollo. which is a very charming town. The countryside was absolutely relaxing and made us take a step back and relax from the buzzing city life! Yup, we are city folks alright!

The falls is hard to find if you are not familiar with the place. Initially it was difficult to locate the falls as there are no sign posts or directions available. Local folks helped us in locating the place. The co-ordinates provided will take you to the spot on the Brownstown road. From here you park on the side of the road and walk past a barrier (there is some old[?] construction site or something, pardon my ignorance! we were too excited to reach the falls and didn't really observe anything else.)  You will spot a trail leading into woods, walk about half a mile down to reach Jackson falls.

We were told that there are total of 3 falls - lower falls, middle falls and upper falls. But we ended up going to the lower falls as it was quite cold for a hike. The falls itself was roaring in full swing in the early spring. It was a delight to see the sparkling water. Further up the stream you will find the middle and upper falls.

Further up the Brownstown road you will find a trail "Rock Furnace trail" which will also lead you to these falls. If you are sport, go for it!
Think of this place as a short excursion for the whole family away from hustling crowd. It is nothing spectacular but definitely feels therapeutic to sit by the stream, take in the beauty of the sparkling water and listen to it splashing gently down the rocks, nature's own musical instrument.

  1. I was there in 2009, but now I have a bad back and knee. Do you know of any golf carts or bikes I could rent. It's a very long walk. Thanks, Mike
